If you ask me what’s my passion other than reading, my answer will be it’s traveling. I love traveling and exploring new destinations. It thrills me whenever I plan for a travel trip to any destination, domestic or international. Traveling to new places gave me the scope, and privilege to know about the destination people, culture, and natural beauty. The moment I checked the title and cover Page of the book Mountain Mist & Meghalaya by Hanisha Raghunath & Urvesh Bhatt, trust me, I was sure this book is for me. My two passions, reading and traveling when blends together it gives me inner peace.

Plot:

It’s a beautifully penned travelogue where the protagonist shared his experience of the Meghalaya trip, moving out from the hustle-bustle of Mumbai life. The entire stay of the protagonist so seamlessly presented that I was getting the feeling I am wandering amid the mountains of Meghalaya. I have not yet explored much of the northeastern part of India, but after reading this book, I wish to explore it real soon. I can feel the nature’s beauty of Meghalaya and the soothing environment through the eyes of our protagonist.
Each place of the mountain state is described wonderfully as if a painter is coloring the canvas to capture the scenic beauty of Meghalaya. In the initial chapter of the book, the author described his co-passenger boarding the same flight. They all were visiting the land of Seven Sisters. The book narrates how the protagonist interacted with them to turn his journey entertaining. He got to know so many things about another beautiful state of Assam while flying to Meghalaya.
Already mentioned that the plot is like a travelogue but what’s the specialty? You will get the opportunity to know about the interesting folklores of Meghalaya with some serious morals to feed in your mind as a reader. You will come closer to the sentiments and culture of the people in Meghalaya with the folklores mentioned in the book. You will realize that humanity is not just a word, and it still exists in this world. The authors of this book ensured that the readers get the opportunity to know, about the Meghalaya vegetation, greenery, culture, and traditions and develop the interest to explore the destination at least once in a lifetime.
The innocence and humble behavior of the people of Meghalaya and their unique love towards mother nature will make you feel mesmerized. The plot of the book reveals that the Meghaliyan people are fantastic storytellers, and they narrate interestingly. Well, I forgot to mention that this travelogue presented in a way, where you will find a story going side by side. You will get an explanation about the beauty and people of this state. The presence of the other characters, in the story, along with the protagonist, will give you the glimpse, that yes, Meghalaya is indeed fantastic. I will not reveal much about the characters here, or else it will spoil the charm of the readers who are yet to read the book.

My verdict:

  • Travelogue can be so interesting, and I got to know it only after reading this book.
  • I can visualize the natural beauty of the state of Meghalaya so well that I believe I can now guide a little to people who wish to explore this destination.
  • The style and narration used in writing this book turned out to be the key point that will make this book popular among travel lovers quite well.
  • The poetic lines in between the chapters increased my reasons to fall in love with this book.
  • Character development and inclusion in the story done brilliantly, and trust me I loved that.
  • For me, this book turned out to be a lesson. It will help me in reading the minds of people, and especially the travel lovers.
In my school books, I read so much about Meghalaya. But I got to know so many other aspects like living root bridge, flok stories, culture, and many others from this book.
If you are not a travel-loving person, just read this book, and I assure you will gain interest in traveling.
I just want to ask 1 question to authors Hanisha Raghunath & Urvesh Bhatt? What’s your next destination to explore, and what will be the next travelogue we will get to read from you. I am eagerly waiting for the same.
From my end, the book gets a perfect score of 5 on 5, and my sincere wish is to see this book as a best seller real soon.
