“AS BOYS BECOME MEN”, is a book which sounds just like a romantic novel for sure. But is it so? Well for your surprise it is absolutely not. It’s a story of 3 friends Mihir, Uday, and Sandeep who moved out from their home towns and meet In Delhi to pursue studies for appearing in CIVIL SERVICE EXAMINATION. The story consists of all aspects of life which are part of a student journey especially for the ones who are appearing for such tough competitive examinations. Along with the trauma of the expensive lifestyle in Delhi, several obstructions came in their lives and they struggled hard to overcome them. The college room experience, friendship, love, liking, and success, you will find all episodes of emotional roller costar ride in this story. The story started in a flashback sequence when Mihir is already well established in his career and happily married and now posted in Delhi. But well again Delhi made him feel that he is lacking getting the desired assignment for him besides accommodation problems and overall the situation was a pretty frustration one for him. Here MIihir’s wife who is a psychologist by profession came as a ray of hope for him. She helped her in overcoming the level of frustration in life and to concentrate on something that desired for long. Yes, she suggested indulging in the storytelling of his student life and how hard he worked to become what he is today.
The story of this book is narrated by Mihir when he was recalling his life from day one of his college days.
If you want to read a normal college life romance story then don’t pick it. In case you are in search of a story which is slightly different and with some meaningful substances then go for it. It’s a story which narrates different aspects of the lives of boys who don’t want to remain restricted in typical college life, love, vagabonding and meaningless activities and want to do something fruitful.
It may prove a useful book for students who aspire to become something big and meaningful in life. It will act as a motivational book for them which they majorly lack these days.
Coming to the language of the book, it’s simple and in some cases bit boring too because of its slow pace. But all in all, it is a definite read for those who want to go for a quality read. It was the first book for Author Mukul Kumar and I must say it’s a good effort which he made and I found him more improved and entertaining in his second book SEDUCTION BY TRUTH. All in all, I liked the book and rate it with 3.5 /5.

I got the book as a part of the review program in Outset”
