The series has been directed by Bejoy Nambiar, a well-known director for both OTT and movie projects. I recently watched this series and found it realistic and honest presentation of the Bollywood filmy stars.

The Plot of The Fame Game

Anamika Anand (Madhuri Dixit), a successful actress and the wife of film producer Nikhil More (Sanjay Kapoor) goes missing and no one has a clue whether she is dead or alive. As the police start their investigation, the illusion of the perfect life that she was supposed to be living is gradually shattered. Through flashbacks, it is revealed that Anamaika has been living a life controlled by her uptight mother Kalyani (Suhasani Mulay).

It is also revealed that Nikhil has blown away most of Anamika’s earnings and that the couple’s marriage is on the rocks. She is also not on the best terms with her children Avi (Lakshvir Saran) and Amara (Muskaan Jaferi). Despite these issues, Anamika always portrays her life to be picture-perfect. The presence of a former co-actor and lover Manish Khanna (Manav Kaul), and an obsessed fan turned stalker further add interesting twists to the plot. Its a Netflix Series

The Creator and Director Combo Contribution to The Fame Game

Creator Sri Rao and director Bejoy Nambiar have done a wonderful job of presenting the darkness that often surrounds the life of Bollywood celebrities. Through the fictional character of Anamika, they have tried to present the problems that haunt the dysfunctional families of Bollywood.  The series reflects the dark realities of the life of superstars that often get hidden behind the glitz and glamour of Bollywood.

The Character Developments and Role Plays In The Fame Game

Madhuri Dixit is an actress par excellence and needless to say her skill shines through in the series. Her portrayal of Anamika has only reaffirmed her status as one of the most natural and versatile actors in the Indian entertainment industry. Sanjay Kapoor and Suhasani Mulay have also done a great job in portraying the characters of a greedy husband and an emotionally distant mother respectively. Manav Kaul looks amazing as the yesteryears superstar and former lover of Anamika, who continues to pine for her while leading a secluded life. The younger actors have also done justice to their roles as the children of a famous superstar, who are also dealing with their own issues in life.

The Story Development of The Fame Game

The story starts as a thriller that soon turns into a family drama as the incidents from the life of Anamika before her sudden disappearance become intertwined with the present. Despite the rapidly unfolding events and various twists and turns, the story manages to keep the viewers engaged and involved till the very end. The surprising twist in the climax leaves the viewers aghast and reveals another aspect of the personality of a primary character.

Final Verdict for The Fame Game

The Fame Game is an unusual series in that it draws the attention of people to the fact that fame is addictive and can drive people to take extreme steps to maintain it. That is why IndiaCafe24 gives it a rating of 4 stars.
