3-starsWelcome Back is the much awaited prequel to the blockbuster movie Welcome, that was released lmost seven years back. However, despite a huge star cast of John Abraham,  Nana Patekar, Anil Kapoor, Shruti Haasan,  Dimple Kapadia, Paresh Rawal, Naseeruddin Shah, Ankita Shrivastav, Shiney Ahuja, the film proves to be nothing more than a stale joke. Directed by Anees Bazmee, this mindless laughter ride was released in theatres on 4th Sep 2015.

The now reformed ex-goons Uday played by Nana Patekar and other one Majnu played by Anil Kpoor, are desperately seeking wives, when Uday came to know that he has another half-sister, Ranjana(Shruti Hasan). Feeling it his moral responsibility to marry her off with a good guy, Uday seeks the help of Dr. Gunghroo (Paresh Rawal), even as Ranjana falls in love with Ajay (John Abraham), who turns out to be Dr. Gunghroo’s son. Meanwhile, the mother- daughter duo of Poonam(Dimple Kapadia) and Babita (Ankita Shrivstava), target Majnu and Uday and Ranjana love life is in trouble as Honey( Shiney Ahuja), the son of a semi-blind don Wanted Bhai (Naseeruddin Shah) wants to marry her.

Director Anees Bazmee has focus on grand sets and elegant locales to make up for the absence of a strong script. But sadly the ploy does not work especially with the lackluster acting of the lead pair. Overall the movie is worth watching only if you don’t mind a nonsensical laugh and IndiaCafe24 gives Welcome Back a rating of 3 stars.
