3-starsDil Dhadhakne Do created a buzz among the audiences long before its release on 5th Jun 2015. The multi-starrer family drama had been making news not only for the unique look of Anil Kapoor but also for the fact that he is playing the role of a father for the first time in this Zoya Akhtar movie. Apart from Anil Kappor, the movie also has Ranveer Singh, Farhan Akhtar, Anushka Sharma, Priyanka Chopra, Shefali Shah which added to the excitement it generated amongst the audience.

Dil Dhadhakne Do is a story of rich Mehra family narrated from the viewpoint of their darling mastiff, Pluto (voiceover by Amir Khan).   The family is headed by Kamal Mehra played by Anil kapoor, who is a self-made billionaire with middle-class values. His wife Neelam and his son Kabir played by Ranveer Kapoor and daughter Ayesha aka Priyanka Chopra along with her husband played by Rahul Bose make up the rest of the family. As the family goes on for a trip on cruise to celebrate the 30th wedding anniversary of Kamal and Neelam, the gaping holes in their relationships are revealed to the audiences even while as the members enjoy the exotic sights of foreign locales.

Even though the movie has its heart in the right place, it fails to impress the audiences primarily due to the lack of anything original. The bickering parents, a daughter trapped in a loveless marriage, as on who is not interested in running the family business and the free spirited Londoner offering coming-of-age lessons are all a part of familiar storylines. Yet there is still something to look forward to in the movie and it is the wonderful acting of all the three female leads, especially Shefali Shah.

Overall the movie is a good one time watch for people who love family dramas and IndiaCafe24 gives it a rating of 3 stars.
