Poetry is a creative style of sharing your emotions and feelings with the world. That is something I do believe and also preach as a poetry lover. My journey with poetry started with the poems of Nobel Laureate Rabindranath Tagore, and I was mostly in love with rhythmic poems only. But with time, I came across the non-rhythmic poems/poetry, which introduced me to a new world of poetic love. Many will wonder why I am sharing my experience with rhythmic and non-rhythmic poetry. Recently I came across a poetry book titled Splinters Of A Broken Mirror by Neelam Saxena Chandra, and it offers a beautiful collection of non-rhythmic poetry.

 Cover Page:

If you look at the cover page, you will find the image of a lady at the back of broken mirrors. It depicts that within us, there is a heart with many emotions and feelings mixed. When our hearts splinters like broken glass, we can see each one of them separately.

About the book:

The book presents 50 emotional poems on varied topics. Each one of them presents the realistic view of the poetess on the topics. I will pick some of the poems that I loved from the core of my heart and share my experience.
  • THE SPRING WITHIN YOU: I can feel every bit of the emotion in this poem in which she narrates that each of us has a spring of energy within us, and we need to realize it and transform the same into a big river for the betterment of the society.
  • BONDS: Reading this poem, I realized the fact that yes, behind every breaking of a bond, there is the beginning of something new and better to happen in life. Beautiful phrases of the poem depict the true meaning of bond.
  • THE ART OF POETRY WRITING: Aha, what poetic phrase with so deep meaning to touch the heart of even a non-poetic person for sure. She says well-written poetry is the one that can create within you a Razor-Sharp reaction.
  • DARKNESS: Darkness we consider negative, but that was not always for me. Many times, darkness helped me realize what’s good and what bad in the surrounding. In this poem, the poetess uniquely presented darkness, which gives us a break to experience the new sunshine in our lives in a new way.
  • FROM SANTA CLAUS: Such a meaningful and lovely poem and, she narrates that being a Santa, she is presenting the gift of faith and wings to fly high and soar. Every line of this poetry is so powerful and encourages to be noble to sprinkle the seeds of hope.
Apart from the above five poems, I loved A BUTTERFLY WOMAN, FRIENDSHIP, YOUR HAPPINESS, and Yes, OM. OM remained very close to my heart as I am a die heart follower of Lord Shiva. The rest of the poems also presents some important aspects of our emotions. Each emotion is very much relatable to our lives.

About writing style:

In the very beginning, I mentioned that this book represents 50 short poems of the non-rhythmic genre. Poetry can be so meaningful, beautiful, and emotional one can only understand when this book is in hand.

Verdict:

If you love poetry and want to accept it in a new form, grab this book, and you will never regret it. Poetry is opening your heart to narrate your feelings to the world in a meaningful and poetic style. I will congratulate the author for taking the risk of presenting this book of meaningful and non-rhythmic poems when very few understand this poetry style. I hope to read many more poetry books by poetess Neelam in the future. I am happy to rate this book 4.5/5 for its wonderful presentation.
