The moment I heard the title of the book- “It ends with a dream: The farther you go, the closer we get”, I felt that it just another love story. In recent times I was losing interest in reading any love story, but the last few love story reads for me proved different. And yes, I loved this book.
But I will love to call this book a family drama in place of a love story. I witnessed love as a small element of the whole story. But still, it is an important part too.
  • Plot: A boy (Yadnya) who grew up and became a successful lawyer with an inclination towards politics. He gets guided by a man, and he loves the most and follows like a guru to make a promising career in politics. When he was a kid, he was aware that his mother is the one, who is bringing him up, and his father his dead. No love & no affection he received from the lady whom he knew was his mother. Later he was handed over to someone else as his adopted father and an actress mom. His new mom showered love more than expected, but that made him feel uncomfortable. Well, his new father, a successful film director, remained busy with his career but with full attention towards his kids, his adopted son, and his biological daughter. He grew up under the guidance of his guru, whom he called nana and their family friend. His father wanted him to follow his path and enter the film industry, while his guru wanted him to study law and slowly make an entry into politics.  But he chooses to follow his Nana’s step…. What is the real attraction for this man? Well, it’s something that will get revealed in the climax of the story, which will shatter Yadnya. Yanshika, his lady-love, came to this life at a very young age when he visited her place with her adopted mother Ramya. They parted 3 times in life only to meet again to embrace a beautiful love story, and yes, she played a role in connecting Yadnya with his real father. Will he reunite again with his love Yashika? How the reality of life will come in front of Yadnya forms the base of the story.
  • Characters: For many readers, it will be the characters of Yadnya, with disturbed and unclear birth history, and Yanshika, a responsible girl towards family, who lost her mother at a tender age, the most entertaining characters. But for me, the Character of Giridhar, the father of Yadhna, emerged out to be the most powerful one with controlled emotion and immense love for his child. He is the real hero in the story for me. I agree that Yadnya experienced a painful childhood, and how later he came to know the sacrifice and love of his father is the real twist in the story. Giridhar was a man of substance for whom love and love for family comes first. He is a caring and loving father in disguise. Gopalkrishnan, to me, appeared as a coward and self-loving person for whom his prestige in society comes first before anything. Ramya was Yadhna’s adopted mother but with a difference, portrayed her character beautifully. But there was always a pain deep beneath her heart. Later it revealed when her past came into the limelight. Abhaya, Yadhna’s sister, presented as a girl who loves her family and brother. She knows how to give space to others in times of need. Yadnya appeared sometimes selfish, sometimes a loving boyfriend, an opportunist, insensible, and yes, also as a pained man who didn’t know about his origin. Yanshika, I just loved her… loss of her mother made her a strong, bold, and mature girl with a charm. Her father Ashok is someone I liked right after Giridhar, so bold and honest in life. Characterization is done by author Medha Nagur. But the Character of Yadhna could have been a little better.
  • Writing style: A free flow style of writing is perfect to keep the readers hooked till the end. Simple English is the USP of the book. It turned the simple, and little predictable story in some parts, entertaining to read. Even after reaching the last page, the story kept revolving in my mind the whole day. Well, that I believe is the magic of the author’s style of writing.
Overall, I found it to be an entertaining, emotional, and movie script story. Quite sure that this book will win the hearts of many book lovers like me. Will love to read many more from author Medha Nagur. I wish Medha great success in life ahead.
I got the book as a part of the review program in Outset”
