There are only a handful of books that do full justice to the injustice that people with too much money and too little values have made rampant within the society. Thankfully Unlawful Justice by Vish Dhamija falls in this category. This interesting legal thriller grabbed my attention from the word go and it’s unusual cover page further enhanced my excitement. As I read through the pages, I felt anger, pity and even helplessness as the disastrous consequences of too little money combined with excessive financial freedom were unraveled to me.
Sixteen year old Baby, the daughter of the house help of Diwan family is brutally raped. The victim’s mother Gayatri Yadav, looks up to her master, criminal lawyer Vansh Diwan to ensure that justice is delivered to her daughter, even though he is torn between a conflict of interests of saving the son of his richest client or getting a shot at justice. Vansh’s decision to secure the financial future and safety of his family above any justice for Baby, makes his wife Priti feel devastated and distressed. She then turns to another top criminal lawyer and their best friend Akash Hingorani to ensure justice for Baby. But the case soon takes a nasty turn that reveals to the readers the difference between law and justice.
Unlawful Justice lays bare the internal workings of the Indian judicial system. It helps us understand how people with money and power tend to manipulate justice in their favor while the poor and gullible keep waiting for justice, often for their entire lives.  The book has been written in a professional manner and uses an extremely easy to understand vocabulary. The perfect pace and enthralling narration add to the beauty of the book and make it a must read for people who love suspense and thriller stories. I consider Unlawful Justice to be a great addition to my collection.
