When I first read the name of the book “Only The Good Die Young: And I’m Not A Saint”, I believed it to be a self-help book of some type.  So, I was really surprised to learn that the book is actually a crime thriller and a sequel to an earlier book written by Akash Verma. Even though I was a bit skeptical about reading the sequel of a book I had not read, my interest was piqued and so I began in earnest.
A heartbroken Anuradha moves from Gurugram to Mumbai, when her married boyfriend, Dhruv leaves her for his family. However, as Anuradha tries to begin a new life in the city of dreams, Dhruv reenters her life. While the two are still trying to assess their relationship and their life, Anuradha’s friends suddenly start dying mysteriously. Now Anuradha and Dhruv need to find out who is behind all this before it is too late for them both.
Only The Good Die Young has all the elements of a great crime thriller, including an exciting plot, whacky characters, and the elements of suspense and surprises scattered throughout the book. Most importantly, even though, I had not read the prequel of the book, I had no difficulty in following the story nor did it impact my reading in any other way. Overall the book proved to be extremely delightful and I wish Akash all the best for its success.
