Do you love short stories? Yes, I do, and this time I picked the book which offers a small short story that talks about a woman’s tough journey in life. It is the story of a woman who faced betrayal from her husband, and he left her for another woman. The other reason was also giving birth to the girl child. The protagonist of the story is not this lady Ramma, but another woman who helped her in crossing the barriers of life. She is the narrator of the story who beautifully weaved the story of Ramma and helped her in shaping her career when everything was looking impossible to her.
It was a day in the park when the protagonist met Ramma. Ramma was covering her head and sitting on a bench next to her. She was watching two little girls playing in the park. The protagonist witnessed the fact that Ramma is not behaving normally, as her eyes were full of tears, but she was looking affectionately towards the girls playing. Later she came to know they are Ramma’s daughter. The story begins right there, and the connection between Ramma and the protagonist started. The best part of the story will narrate how Ramma took a bold move and went ahead in life with so much positivity. How well she nurtured her daughters single-handed till the time they achieved some milestone.
But what if the past returns with a dark cloud in life? To know what next, do read the book… A Suppressive Woman: A right support at the right time paves the way by Anujaya Pradhan. Coming to the writing style…. The flow is smooth and a little fast. But as it is a short story, so I give this fast-peak element a skip.
Well, Character development could have been a little better. But, still overall a good fast read story for many readers. I wish to read many more such stories from author Anujaya.
