I am one of the countless people who saw different celluloid versions of Jungle Book before actually getting down to read the book. It is perhaps one of the most celebrated novels penned by the renowned author Rudyard Kipling.  I was truly impressed by the design of the cover page which aptly reflects the theme and title of the story and is appealing enough for a children’s book cover. To be honest I purchased this book based on the reviews and for making a gift to a lovely kid known to me. But before I make the gift wrap I thought to read it once and revive my childhood days.
The Jungle Book tells the tale of Mowgli, a human child, who is orphaned while he is still an infant when the ferocious Sher Khan hunts down his parents. The child is then taken to a family of wolves by the black panther Bagheera. The mother wolf raises Mowgli along with her own cubs, and even though Sher Khan constantly threatens the wolf pack to give up the man-cub or face dire consequences, they continue treating Mowgli as one of their own. As Mowgli grows older he learns the laws of the jungle from his animal friends including the wise Bhageera and loveable Bhaloo. However, he is soon forced to leave the sheltered life with his wolf family and face the dangers that threaten him including Sher Khan and Bandar log.
The Jungle Book is a true classic in every sense and narrates a tale of love, courage, and sacrifice in a most interesting and engaging manner. The book brings to fore the interdependence between man, animals, and nature and the various ways in which each can learn from the other to live in complete harmony. The writing style of the author is quite convincing and makes the readers feel like the jungles have been brought to life. The various twists and tales in the story keep the readers engaged and make for a really amazing read. The kid whom I gifted this book loved the book completely. To encourage your kids for a quality read do buy this book.
