Archana Ramasundaram- Declared The First Women IPS Officer Heading A Parliamentary Force

Archana RamasundaramIt was in the year 2014 when Archana Ramasundaram, made headlines for getting appointment in CBI for the position of Additional Director. That was just the beginning of a glorious journey for Archana Ramasundaram, senior IPS officer and this Monday she was declared the Director General of Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB). It’s the era of women empowerment and she is the very first women to get this appointment for leading a force of parliamentary.

Being the member of 1980 officer’s batch of Tamil Nadu cadre, presently she is handling the responsibility and position of Special Director for National Crime Records Bureau. She will be handling this position till her date of superannuation which is 30th September 2017. This order was issued by Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT).

This inspirational lady of 58 years, created history by becoming the first lady police officer to get such a prestigious appointment. The journey to reach this position was not so smooth for her. Controversy was there for her additional director appointment in CBI. The reason was her joining the agency without getting a reliving order from her Tamil Nadu parent Cadre. Her appointment with CBI was badly challenged in Supreme Court and that stopped her from discharging her responsibility and role with the agency.

Lately she got the appointment to act as National Crime Bureau, Head. SSB is handling the responsibility of providing guarding service in country’s borders with Bhutan and Nepal. It’s a force comprising of 60,000 members which played very important role in internal security responsibilities Also.

Archana Ramasundaram, is a true inspiration for the women in India. We salute this lady
