Color Psychology Series-Green: A Story the Heart Remembers
Green: A Story the Heart Remembers
After yellow taught the mind how to choose, green arrived in our lives to teach the soul the art of healing.

Green is sober and makes you feel fresh. It is not like fire, nor does it glow like the sun. Green emerged quietly like leaves unfolding after rain. It is the color of forests breathing, new shoots breaking through soil, and the gentle balance between earth and sky. Green never asks you if you can survive. Or can you decide?
Its fresh touch asks you, can you love without fear?
If your heart feels heavy, then naturally, the body starts to feel tired. You feel unloved, betrayed, aloof, and broken. And the heart belongs to green. At this point, it indicates a blockage in one of 7 chakras in the body.
Green governs the Anahata (Heart Chakra), located at the center of the chest. This is the meeting point of lower survival energies and higher spiritual awareness. It is the middle Chakra of the body, and that’s why it is so important. It is where love, compassion, forgiveness, balance, and emotional healing reside. If red roots you, orange moves you, and yellow empowers you, green harmonizes you.
Those with balanced green energy radiate a calm, warm energy. They forgive without weakness. They give without losing themselves. Their presence feels safe, steady, and accepting. They understand that love is strength, not sacrifice. The love people with an open heart, and in turn, they get loved by people equally. That’s the power of green.
But when green dims, pain lingers. Grudges harden. Jealousy, possessiveness, or fear of rejection quietly grow. One may feel emotionally closed or overly dependent. When green becomes excessive, boundaries blur. Because that is exaggeration, and such people end up giving too much, rescuing others, neglecting self-care.
The body, faithful messenger of the heart, reflects this imbalance. Chest tightness. Asthma. Blood pressure irregularities. Immune weakness. Circulatory issues. The heart and lungs are deeply connected to green energy. Even shallow breathing can signal emotional protection.

Breathe deeply, AND The heart opens slowly.
In color psychology, green represents harmony, growth, renewal, and stability. It is the most restful color for the human eye. Hospitals use soft, green colors to promote healing. Financial institutions use green to symbolize prosperity and trust. Nature uses green to restore the nervous system.
When someone is drawn strongly to green, they may be seeking emotional healing or stability. When someone rejects green, it may indicate unresolved heart wounds or resistance to vulnerability.
In homes, green balances spaces. Too much red creates tension; too much blue creates coldness. Green restores equilibrium. It is ideal for bedrooms, meditation spaces, and areas where emotional conversations happen.
Healers work with green through plants, heart-centered meditation, and stones like Green Aventurine, Emerald, and Malachite. These are not merely ornaments; they symbolize growth through pain and beauty through resilience.
In occult science, green is associated with positive energy. It talks about love, attraction, fertility, abundance, and harmony. It is used in rituals for relationship healing and financial growth. Green binds love with prosperity, reminding us that emotional and material balance are interconnected.
Green teaches the art of balance:
Give, but do not empty yourself. Self-love is important.
Receive, without guilt. You deserve to be loved.
Forgive, but remember your worth.
If red says, Live.
If orange says, Feel.
If yellow says, Choose.
Green says, “Open.”
And in opening the heart, life begins to flow not just with strength, but with grace.
Alert: Too much of green creates confusion, doubt and suspicious mindset. Instead of trusting others easily, you may begin to question their intentions. Outwardly, you may still express love and affection, but internally, doubt can linger. Over time, this can make you hesitant to fully trust people.

I am such a woods person and always associated green with harmonising and soothing. But a broken heart leads to so much negativity, this really opened my eyes to the world around us and why people behave the way they do. I’m really liking your colour therapy series.
Such a beautifully written post…i love how you connect green with nature, and also with healing, harmony, and emotional balance. green is such a calm color and rightly said in your post
Now I know why green is my favourite colour. It stands for harmony and balance – my go to emotions. Thank you p, Samata, for this beautiful outlook on green, the colour of nature. As I was reading your post, I realised I don’t have any green in my living room, I will correct that error immediately.
Since I can remember, green has been my favourite colour, and my wardrobe mostly consists of black and green. The sight of the green grass next to the lake every morning, as I take a walk, welcomes me to a new day of hope.
I love, love, love how beautifully you explain the pros and cons of each colour. Green is the colour of fertility and the colour of Budh/Mercury. Wearing green or eating something green on Wednesdays enhances your intellect and communication skills.
Thank you for this lovely post, Samata. I always reach out for green in my bedcovers. I never knew this about the green colour. Last month, I brought two plants into my room, and I feel they helped harmonise my emotions.
This was a calm and thoughtful read. I liked how you connected the color green with healing and memory-it felt gentle and reflective, much like the color itself.
The greens of nature..trees..grass…leaves are so soothing for our minds as well as soul. No wonder green stands for harmony. Quite insightful.
Green Says “OPEN” that’s so true. Loved this one. Green really soothes your mind. Makes you harmonious with nature.
Interesting read, Samata. Honestly, I didn’t know so much about color psychology before reading your series. And I’m learning so many new and interesting facts. Thanks a lot. I wish I had known about them before I got my house painted!
I am learning a lot from your colour psychology. I particularly liked your last alert about too much of green. I must believe in green for more openness.
I enjoyed reading about the depth of green – it is so much more than just the color of grass -and your post really shares the multiple meanings and significance.
This really spoke to me! The way you explore green as calm, growth‑filled, and heart‑rooted made me pause and actually feel the meaning. Loved it!
Such a lovely post. I love the color green . Learnt more about it today
Samata, this was again such an interesting read. Never really thought about the color green this deeply before. Now I feel like wearing green more often. Loved the way you explained the balance and emotional side of it.
How interesting. Green indeed is soothing for the eyes and mind.
Green is my favourite colour.. Right from my childhood, and has never changed ever since!
