Thriller is something which creates the impact in mind to know “who is doing all these?” I have fallen in love with thrillers since my teenage days, and it continued till now. Sapan Saxena is one such author who’s two other books I read earlier and loved. The first one was Finders, Keepers, and another one was UNNS- the Captivation. I loved his style of writing, and so I picked his latest “The Tenth Riddle”. I didn’t keep any confusion about the story and plot. Before I take it further need to agree that Sapan Saxena knows how to keep his readers hooked till the end.

Plot:

It’s a murder mystery, and there is a riddle involved in it to resolve the case. The key point of the story is that this riddle is on Hindu goddesses. The responsibility came on the shoulders of 3 people: Shoumik Haldar-Deputy Director of IB, Shakti Sinha- A politician and Ishan Vajpayee- An author and that too best seller. The murder case that they will be investigating is not any fresh case but a six-year-old one.
Avni Saraswat, the princess of the Saraswat family at Goner in Rajasthan, was murdered six years back. Avni was an asthmatic patient who was found dead in one of the guest rooms of Kuldevi temple. The day on which the murder took place was Princess’s 21st Birthday. She was supposed to get the inheritance of Havelis and other properties. Well, it also includes the head position of the Kuldevi Temple Trust. The surprising fact was that on that particular day, Avni’s friend also went missing. While working on the case, the Trio investigators came across the prophecy made with ten riddles. Who is the murderer, and what will be the story behind this mystery? Do you want to know? Just grab a copy of this book.

Story:

The story remained interesting, right from the beginning. As I progress through the story, I can feel the thrill and curiousness in me to know what next. The story is not only interesting but outstanding. It displays a perfect blend of thriller, mystery and mythology. The credit goes to the author as he truly delivered an outstanding piece of work for the readers.

Character development:

The three key characters in the story of Shoumik, Shakti and Ishan developed beautifully. I am impressed witnessing the level of knowledge Ishan had on Hindu Mythology. Shoumik remained the lead character of the plot and was impressive too, but Shakti in the role of a politician was no less interesting for me. I appreciate the intelligence of the author in character development.

Writing style:

As I said in the beginning, I read authors earlier books, I was aware of the competent writing style. Honestly, he didn’t disappoint me this time also. The language remained simple and, gripping. So I believe every fiction and mystery lover will enjoy the read.

Cover page:

The cover page is quite interestingly designed, and gives a glimpse of Hindu mythology involved in the story. I can smell mystery on the cover page. But It could have been a little better.

Final Verdict:

Loved the story completely and will not mind saying that I am now a fan of Sapan Saxena after this book. It’s a well-drafted and well-crafted book that is worth a read if you love a thriller with a touch of mythology. My rating for this book is 4.80/5
