Humpty Dumpty – And The Moral
Humpty Dumpty – And The Moral

Humpty Dumpty sat on a wall.
Humpty Dumpty had a great fall.
All the king’s horses and all the king’s men
couldn’t put Humpty together again.

Remember this Rhyme????? 🙂 🙂 🙂
Well, Humpty Dumpty remained one of the most popular rhymes of our growing ages. But now, as a mom, I am glad to see that same old rhymes of our time are still in my son’s rhyme books. In my time, I understood the rhyme, just as a rhythmic one… but never felt that it also offered great morals. Well, who wrote this rhyme? No mention in the pages of history, but first printed by Samuel Arnold, 1797.
Now I am introducing these nursery rhymes to Ani, and thought, why not also interpret the deeper and inner meanings of this rhyme? I wish that Ani would get a glimpse of the lessons this rhyme offers. So here we go …..
Lesson 1: Consequences of Carelessness
Humpty was sitting on a high wall, which was risky. He fell down and broke his crown… what it indicates? This fall shows that if we don’t think carefully about our actions, we may face consequences.
Lesson 2: Some Mistakes Cannot Be Rectified
Once Humpty fell, nobody could put him back together. This shows that not everything in life can be fixed once it is broken.
Lesson 3: The Limitations of Power and Help
Even the king’s men and horses failed to fix Humpty. This teaches that power, money, or strength can’t always solve every problem. You need to think smart before you act.
Lesson 4: Vulnerability & Humility
Humpty looks strong (like an egg with a shell) but is fragile inside. We all have weaknesses.
Lesson 5: Understanding & Moving Forward
Though Humpty couldn’t be put back together, it can inspire us to accept setbacks and start fresh.
The Overall lesson that we, as parents, need to share with our kids is that Humpty taught us caution, thinking, planning, and consideration. The fact is that some things are beyond correction, and that is why we need to be careful, courageous, and kind.
