Humpty Dumpty – And The Moral
Humpty Dumpty – And The Moral

Humpty Dumpty sat on a wall.
Humpty Dumpty had a great fall.
All the king’s horses and all the king’s men
couldn’t put Humpty together again.
Humpty Dumpty sat on a wall.
Humpty Dumpty had a great fall.
All the king’s horses and all the king’s men
couldn’t put Humpty together again.
Humpty Dumpty sat on a wall.
Humpty Dumpty had a great fall.
All the king’s horses and all the king’s men
couldn’t put Humpty together again.
Remember this Rhyme????? 🙂 🙂 🙂
Well, Humpty Dumpty remained one of the most popular rhymes of our growing ages. But now, as a mom, I am glad to see that same old rhymes of our time are still in my son’s rhyme books. In my time, I understood the rhyme, just as a rhythmic one… but never felt that it also offered great morals. Well, who wrote this rhyme? No mention in the pages of history, but first printed by Samuel Arnold, 1797.
Now I am introducing these nursery rhymes to Ani, and thought, why not also interpret the deeper and inner meanings of this rhyme? I wish that Ani would get a glimpse of the lessons this rhyme offers. So here we go …..
Lesson 1: Consequences of Carelessness
Humpty was sitting on a high wall, which was risky. He fell down and broke his crown… what it indicates? This fall shows that if we don’t think carefully about our actions, we may face consequences.
Lesson 2: Some Mistakes Cannot Be Rectified
Once Humpty fell, nobody could put him back together. This shows that not everything in life can be fixed once it is broken.
Lesson 3: The Limitations of Power and Help
Even the king’s men and horses failed to fix Humpty. This teaches that power, money, or strength can’t always solve every problem. You need to think smart before you act.
Lesson 4: Vulnerability & Humility
Humpty looks strong (like an egg with a shell) but is fragile inside. We all have weaknesses.
Lesson 5: Understanding & Moving Forward
Though Humpty couldn’t be put back together, it can inspire us to accept setbacks and start fresh.
The Overall lesson that we, as parents, need to share with our kids is that Humpty taught us caution, thinking, planning, and consideration. The fact is that some things are beyond correction, and that is why we need to be careful, courageous, and kind.

Finally someone gave me an interpretation of this beloved nursery rhyme.Thank you, this is a great interpretation of the poem to inculcate value sin our children.
How beautifully you have decoded the rhyme! If only the original author could say it himself, I am sure he or she would be thumping your back. I love the photographs you have generated along with lessons.
I love your interpretation of this popular rhyme we all grew up repeating in school. I particularly appreciate the spin you gave it in the end. A very wise lesson there.
That is quite a lesson/s and I never thought of it beyond a rhyme.
This is sweet. I liked how you took a nursery rhyme we all know and turned it into real life lessons: being careful, owning your mistakes, and knowing that some breaks can’t ever be fixed. It’s a gentle reminder that sometimes strength is knowing you can’t always lean on others to “fix” you.
The rhyme now becomes so much more interesting. The morals you have decoded are so good! I would love to see such important lessons being decoded from other rhymes too.
What lovely and inspiring lessons you’ve pulled out from a nursery rhyme. I’m awed and impressed and also thanks for that nostalgia dive
Woah you really blew my mind. I love how you decoded the practical lessons behind it.
love how you turned a simple childhood rhyme into such meaningful life lessons. Your interpretation makes Humpty Dumpty more than nostalgia—it becomes wisdom we can pass to kids and even remind ourselves of daily. Beautifully done!
Know what, my daughter said when she was a kid. “Deewar pe baithega to girega hi na. Anda hai.” Lol! Nursery rhymes can be so educational if we see the deeper meaning.
You have shared such life lessons from the simple rhyme. Somehow, I always read it like you have interpreted it. We cannot put together everything, even the king’s men with all the money and resources couldn’t put Humpty together again.
That’s an excellent series of lesson from this age old rhyme! Never pondered from this perspective!
This is indeed a treasure. What lessons you drew from this age-old nursery rhyme .Kudos
I really enjoyed this reflection on Humpty Dumpty — the way you uncover its deeper lessons gives such richness to a childhood rhyme. It’s a great reminder that even simple stories can offer wisdom about responsibility, fragility, and resilience.
I enjoyed reading your translation of the rhyme and the lessons which are so grounding! enjoyed your cute illustrations too for this one 🙂
This is still my favourite rhymes. Thanks for letting us know the meaning
