4 starsCover page of the novel “Checkmate” features the face of a man covered with Black cloth and a Gun in hand. The very first look of the cover page can provoke any reader to read this novel especially to those who are fond of thriller stories. The look of the cover page is really impressive and for that the credit should go to the designer. The story is penned by the very young author Hrishikesh Joshi and we can assure that whoever reads this story will surely love the flow plot as it is really interesting and will not allow you to stop till you complete reading it.

The story is set in the background of a plane highjack and how the government of India makes an attempt to take control of the situation and save the hostages in flight. A flight to London, from India, is taken under control of 2 terrorist claiming that Indian government should accept their demands to free their associates or else they will start killing the passengers one by one till the government bows in front of them. They want a dangerous militant who is in Indian jail to be released on an immediate basis.

Indian prime minister is now in a confused situation as there are many innocent lives under the gun point of the hijackers on one side and on the other side being a responsible citizen of India he cannot take the decision of releasing a militant from prison. What he will do to save the lives of hostages’ forms the base of the story in next part…? To add some masala in the storyline we can see a short love story develop although it does not occupy much space in the plot. Thriller, suspense, love and emotion – all these factors are well mixed up to make the novel entertaining for all. The storyline reminds us of the movie “Zameen” staring Ajay Devgan, Abhishek Bachhan and Bipasha. What exactly happens at the end – It is really interesting and we are not going to disclose it. We want readers to read it and get the true flavor of this thriller story.

Hrishikesh Joshi made a great attempt by starting his career as an author with this novel. The language is very simple and the flow is perfect and we must say THUMPS UP to Hrishikesh.

A must read for thriller story lovers. We are expecting more from this author in coming time.
